In a small bowl, combine instant espresso powder or instant coffee with sugar and hot water. Add vanilla extract if desired.

Using a hand mixer or whisk, beat the mixture vigorously for 5 to 6 minutes until it becomes thick, light, and forms stiff peaks.

Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour in milk, leaving a couple of centimeters at the top for the whipped coffee.

Spoon generous dollops of whipped coffee topping onto the milk. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon. Stir gently to combine before drinking if preferred.
