01 -
Preheat waffle iron on regular setting and spray both plates evenly with olive oil cooking spray to prevent sticking.
02 -
Squeeze out excess moisture from thawed hash browns using a clean kitchen towel, then transfer to a large mixing bowl. Pour melted butter over potatoes, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and mix thoroughly to combine.
03 -
Scoop 120 ml (½ cup) of the seasoned hash browns into each waffle iron section. Evenly distribute 2 tablespoons of grated cheddar and a sprinkle of ham (if using) over the potatoes, then cover with an additional 60 ml (¼ cup) of hash browns.
04 -
Close the waffle iron and cook on the regular setting for approximately 15 minutes, or until the exterior is golden brown and crisp. Carefully remove when done.
05 -
Repeat layering and cooking until all seasoned hash browns and cheese are used.
