Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Ham (Printer-Friendly)

Tender ham coated in brown sugar, honey, and pineapple, slow-cooked for juicy slices and crisp, caramelized edges.

# What You’ll Need to Cook:

→ Main

01 - 1 spiral-cut bone-in ham (8–10 kg)

→ Glaze

02 - 200 g brown sugar
03 - 60 ml honey
04 - 60 g unsalted butter, melted
05 - 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
06 - 250 g pineapple slices with juice (reserve both)

# Steps to Prepare:

01 - Place the spiral-cut ham, cut side facing downward, into a large oval slow cooker.
02 - In a bowl, combine brown sugar, honey, melted butter, ground cloves, and the reserved pineapple juice. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
03 - Spread the prepared glaze mixture evenly over the top and sides of the ham, allowing it to settle between the spiral slices.
04 - Arrange pineapple slices over and around the ham, securing with toothpicks if necessary.
05 - Cover the slow cooker with a lid (or foil, if needed) and cook the ham on low for 3 to 4 hours, basting with glaze every hour.
06 - Transfer the cooked ham to a platter. Baste with cooking juices and allow it to rest uncovered for 10 minutes before carving.
07 - For caramelised edges, place the ham onto a baking tray, sprinkle extra brown sugar on the exterior, and broil under high heat for 1–2 minutes watching carefully until the sugar starts to crystallise.

# Extra Cooking Tips:

01 - Always use a large oval slow cooker to accommodate a whole ham and allow for even heat distribution.
02 - Let the ham rest after cooking to optimise juiciness and ease carving.
03 - If pineapple is not preferred, orange juice or apple cider vinegar can substitute for acidity and flavour.
