# What You’ll Need to Cook:

→ Chow Mein Sauce

01 - 1 cup hot water
02 - ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
03 - 2 tablespoon oyster sauce
04 - 2 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine
05 - 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
06 - 1 teaspoon sesame oil
07 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar
08 - 2 teaspoon cornstarch

→ Chow Mein

09 - 2 tablespoon peanut oil
10 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
11 - 1 medium carrot, julienned or thinly sliced
12 - 4 cups Napa cabbage, shredded
13 - 340g chow mein noodles
14 - 3 green onions, chopped
15 - 1 cup bean sprouts

# Steps to Prepare:

01 - In a medium bowl, whisk all sauce ingredients together until well combined and set aside.
02 - Heat peanut oil in a wok or large skillet. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add julienned carrots and cook for another minute until slightly softened. Incorporate shredded cabbage and sauté for 2 minutes until wilted.
03 - Add chow mein noodles to the wok. Give the sauce a quick stir before pouring over the noodles. Allow to cook for 2 minutes undisturbed, then toss everything together. Continue cooking and tossing for 3-5 minutes until noodles are completely softened and coated with sauce.
04 - Add green onions and bean sprouts to the wok, tossing everything together to combine. Serve immediately while hot.

# Extra Cooking Tips:

01 - For a protein version, sauté chicken, pork, beef or shrimp in the wok with oil before adding vegetables.
02 - Vegetable or chicken broth can substitute for Chinese cooking wine if an alcohol-free version is preferred.
03 - Prepare all ingredients in advance for quicker cooking as this dish comes together rapidly.
04 - If chow mein noodles aren't available, substitute with soba or pancit noodles.
05 - Use a mandoline for uniform thin vegetable slices.
06 - A large skillet works well if you don't have a wok.
07 - No additional salt is necessary due to sodium content in sauce ingredients.
