Hibachi Teppan Shrimp Yum (Printer-Friendly)

Sautéed shrimp in savory hibachi sauce with onions, perfect over rice for a quick Japanese-inspired dinner.

# What You’ll Need to Cook:

→ Hibachi Shrimp

01 - 1 white onion, thinly sliced
02 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
03 - 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
04 - 450 grams raw jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined

→ Hibachi Sauce

05 - 0.25 teaspoon sesame oil
06 - 22 millilitres soy sauce
07 - 22 millilitres teriyaki sauce
08 - 15 millilitres mirin
09 - 2 garlic cloves, minced

# Steps to Prepare:

01 - In a small mixing bowl, whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, mirin, and minced garlic. Set the sauce aside.
02 - Heat a wok or large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Melt butter, add sliced onions, and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until aromatic.
03 - Add shrimp and finely diced garlic to the pan. Pour in the prepared hibachi sauce, stirring to evenly coat the shrimp. Arrange shrimp in a single layer and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
04 - Turn the shrimp and continue to cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, or until shrimp are opaque and the sauce is reduced by half.
05 - Transfer cooked shrimp and onions to serving plates. Enjoy immediately, ideally over steamed or fried rice and with yum yum sauce if desired.

# Extra Cooking Tips:

01 - For optimal flavour and tenderness, avoid overcooking the shrimp; remove them from heat as soon as they turn pink and opaque.
