Death By Chocolate Slow Cooker Cake (Printer-Friendly)

Rich slow-cooked chocolate cake unveils a luscious molten core, best enjoyed warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

# What You’ll Need to Cook:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 package (approximately 425 g) chocolate cake mix for two layers
02 - 1 can (about 450 g) chocolate fudge icing
03 - 1 package (approximately 170 g) instant chocolate pudding mix (serves 6)
04 - 520 ml cold whole milk
05 - 120 ml unsalted butter, melted

→ To Serve

06 - Vanilla ice cream, as desired

# Steps to Prepare:

01 - Grease the inside of a large slow cooker to prevent sticking.
02 - In a bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix with melted butter and 260 ml of the cold milk. Stir until fully blended, then spread the batter evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix with the remaining 260 ml cold milk until it thickens slightly. Gently pour the pudding mixture over the cake batter in the slow cooker.
04 - Spoon the entire can of chocolate fudge icing evenly over the pudding layer. Do not mix.
05 - Cover with the slow cooker lid and cook on HIGH for 3 hours. Check after 2½ hours to avoid overbaking the edges.
06 - Spoon the warm lava cake into bowls and top immediately with scoops of vanilla ice cream.

# Extra Cooking Tips:

01 - Monitor the cake after 2½ hours to prevent the edges from overbaking; the centre should remain molten.
02 - For a less intense bake, cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, checking periodically.
