# What You’ll Need to Cook:

→ Vegetables

01 - 700 g frozen french-style green beans, thawed and well-drained

→ Dairy

02 - 240 g sour cream
03 - 120 g shredded cheddar cheese
04 - 25 g grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

→ Meat

05 - 70 g cooked bacon, finely chopped or bacon bits

→ Aromatics

06 - 1 small onion, finely diced
07 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

→ Fats

08 - 45 g unsalted butter, divided

→ Baking Ingredients

09 - 16 g (2 tbsp) all-purpose flour

→ Seasonings

10 - 3 g (1/2 tsp) fine sea salt
11 - 1 g (1/4 tsp) ground black pepper
12 - 0.5 g (1/8 tsp) ground nutmeg

→ Topping

13 - 40 g cornflakes, lightly crushed

# Steps to Prepare:

01 - Preheat oven to 205°C. Grease a 1-litre oven-safe baking dish with a small amount of butter or non-stick spray.
02 - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 15 g butter. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté for 2 minutes until softened. Add green beans, cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
03 - Push beans to skillet edges, melt another 15 g butter in the centre. Sprinkle flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg over melted butter. Stir in place for 1 minute to cook out raw flour.
04 - Add sour cream to the pan. Stir well to coat green beans, combining thoroughly to form a creamy sauce.
05 - Transfer hot creamed green beans to greased baking dish. Sprinkle chopped bacon and shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
06 - Melt remaining 15 g butter and toss with crushed cornflakes. Scatter buttered cornflakes over casserole surface.
07 - Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Cover loosely with foil if topping browns too quickly.
08 - Remove from oven. Immediately sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan over the top. Serve hot.

# Extra Cooking Tips:

01 - For optimal crispiness, remove foil for the last 10 minutes of baking if using it initially.
02 - Substitute cornflakes with an equal amount of potato chips or French fried onions for different texture.
03 - Drain green beans thoroughly to prevent excess liquid in the dish.
04 - Leftovers can be refrigerated for 5 days; reheat in the oven to refresh topping.
05 - Assemble up to 48 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking as directed.
